Mint Julep

4
(1)

A Mint Julep is a cocktail traditionally made with bourbon, sugar, and fresh mint. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or simple syrup)
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a shaker, muddle the mint leaves and sugar together until the leaves are slightly bruised.
  2. Add the bourbon and a few ice cubes to the shaker.
  3. Shake well until the ingredients are well combined and chilled.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a chilled rocks glass filled with crushed ice.
  5. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a straw.

You can adjust the amount of sugar to taste. Some people prefer a sweeter Mint Julep with more sugar, while others prefer a less sweet drink with less sugar. You can also try adding a splash of water or club soda to the shaker to help dissolve the sugar and mellow out the flavours.
