To make a Kir Royale, you will need:

  • 250ml Champagne or sparkling white wine
  • 25ml Crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur)

To make the drink:

  1. Fill a flute glass about halfway with Champagne or sparkling white wine.
  2. Add a splash (about 1/4 ounce) of crème de cassis to the glass.
  3. Gently stir the ingredients together with a spoon.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Note: You can also make a Kir, which is similar to a Kir Royale but made with white wine instead of Champagne. To make a Kir, simply follow the same recipe above, substituting white wine for the Champagne.

The Kir Royale is a cocktail that was created in the late 1940s or early 1950s by a man named Félix Kir, the mayor of Dijon, France. According to legend, Kir began serving the drink as a way to promote the region’s crème de cassis, a blackcurrant liqueur that is an essential ingredient in the cocktail.

The drink quickly gained popularity in France and beyond, and it became a staple at fashionable cocktail parties and events. Today, the Kir Royale is a classic cocktail that is enjoyed around the world. It is typically made with Champagne or sparkling white wine and a splash of crème de cassis, and it is often served as an aperitif before a meal or at celebrations such as weddings and New Year’s Eve parties.

It is also featured in the latest Netflix series, Emily in Paris, Season 3.

It is important to note that the Kir Royale, like any alcoholic beverage, should be consumed in moderation as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Excessive alcohol consumption can have negative health effects and can increase the risk of developing a range of health problems, including liver disease, cancer, and mental health issues.

With that said, some potential benefits of the Kir Royale include:

  • It can be a low-calorie option: Depending on the ingredients and serving size, a Kir Royale can be a relatively low-calorie drink option. A standard serving of Champagne or sparkling white wine is about 5 ounces, and a splash of crème de cassis is about 1/4 ounce. This means that a Kir Royale made with Champagne and crème de cassis is about 80 calories per serving.
  • It may have some potential health benefits: Some studies have suggested that moderate alcohol consumption, including Champagne, may have some potential health benefits. For example, research has shown that moderate alcohol consumption may be associated with a lower risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as a lower risk of certain types of cancer. However, it is important to note that these potential benefits may be outweighed by the negative health effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
  • It can be a social lubricant: Many people enjoy the Kir Royale as a social drink, and it can be a good way to relax and unwind with friends or colleagues. In moderation, alcohol can have a relaxing effect and may help to reduce social anxiety. However, it is important to remember to drink responsibly and not to overindulge.
